Infamous Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore (R), who was among those who counseled the Bundy militiamen who occupied the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon, spoke to local CBS affiliate KLAS in Las Vegas where she said pointing your guns at federal agents and law enforcement officers is acceptable.
There's just one big problem: it isn't.
More specifically, Fiore said pointing your guns at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), or any other law enforcement officer, is just self-defense.
In an interview with a local TV station last Sunday, Fiore attacked the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as “a bureaucrat agency of terrorism.”
“I would never ever point my firearm at anyone, including an officer of the law, unless they pointed their firearm at me,” Fiore explained. But, the assemblywoman continued, “once you point your firearm at me, I’m sorry, then it becomes self-defense. Whether you’re a stranger, a bad guy, or an officer, and you point your gun at me and you’re gonna shoot me and I have to decide whether it’s my life or your life, I choose my life.”
The men who pointed their guns at BLM agents, such as the man pictured above, have actually be charged and arrested for doing so. It's not self-defense. The BLM agents who attempted to confiscate Cliven Bundy's cattle, while armed, never actually pointed their guns at anyone.
Even if the BLM agents had raised their weapons at the militiamen preventing them from performing their duty, it wouldn't be self defense for the militiamen to respond in kind. That's not how any of this works. To the extent that I understand federal law, self defense clearly does not apply to preventing a federal officer from performing their lawful duty. The Bundy militiamen who disrupted the BLM operation in Nevada were charged for using the threat of violence to prevent federal officers from performing their duty.
Michele Fiore is a dangerous idiot who has probably gotten people killed in the past or will in the near future if she keeps this up. The so-called "tarp man" of the Oregon occupiers was killed after he raised his weapons at FBI agents.
