Although the results of the 2020 election has been clear for weeks, the Trump regime had refused to begin the formal process of transitioning to the Biden administration by denying access to federal resources and classified intelligence briefings to the president elect. The Trump regime has even threatened and attacked anyone who agrees to work with the incoming administration, but something apparently changed their mind last night.
The formal transition process can finally begin now after the General Services Administration (GSA) gave the greenlight.
Mr. Trump did not concede, and vowed to persist with efforts to change the vote, which have so far proved fruitless. But the president said on Twitter on Monday night that he accepted the decision by Emily W. Murphy, the administrator of the General Services Administration, to allow a transition to proceed.
In his tweet, Mr. Trump said that he had told his officials to begin “initial protocols” involving the handoff to Mr. Biden “in the best interest of our country,” even though he had spent weeks trying to subvert a free and fair election with false claims of fraud. Hours later, he tried to play down the significance of Ms. Murphy’s action, tweeting that it was simply “preliminarily work with the Dems” that would not stop efforts to change the election results.
I feel confident in assuming that Trump himself did not write the words "best interest of our country" because that is not a string of words that exists in his vocabulary, but in any case I think this is the closest thing we're ever going to see to an actual concession.
Trump's concession isn't required for Biden to be sworn into office and that's good considering we'll probably never get one. Trump isn't going to concede. He probably won't even concede when he's out of office. He's going to talk about how the election was stolen from him for the rest of his life.
Wall Street exploded this morning with the Dow hitting a new record of 30,000 on the news that Biden's transition can finally begin, so that puts the lie to Trump's claim that a Biden victory would crash the market.
The state of Michigan certified their election results yesterday evening and Pennsylvania followed suit this morning. All that's left are the conspiracy theories.
