This is the Republican party's idea of a "family friendly" paid leave program that you pay for.
Several senators have sponsored a bill that would amend a portion of the 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act.
The Family Friendly and Workplace Flexibility Act would allow employers and employees in the private sector to come to agreements by which hourly workers could put overtime earned toward paid leave rather than extra compensation. The bill is sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., and Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga.
If you pay for it by deferring compensation, it's not "paid leave." That is not how it works.
I suppose you could call it "paid leave," but workers would be the ones who pay for their own leave rather than employers.
I shouldn't laugh because this is sick and twisted legislation that furthers the interests of corporations and franchise owners at the expense of working families who would be forced to choose between important family business or paying their bills.
