Trump's effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election are no longer being taken seriously even within the Trump campaign according to sources who spoke to Bloomberg, and Trump's campaign staff have been reduced to a skeleton crew.
According to their sources, Trump's campaign has even returned the furniture they rented.
But Trump hasn't given up the grift yet and he probably won't until the final day when the electoral college votes for Joe Biden. The grift is the only real goal at this point as Trump wants to continue raising money for himself for as long as he can.
President Donald Trump is aware his fight to overturn the election is winding down, according to people familiar with the matter, but he isn’t ready to end the effort as he fundraises off the furor, directing much of the proceeds to his political action committee. [...]
The contracts of many campaign staff ended Nov. 15, as planned, people familiar with the matter said. A core group remains, including campaign manager Bill Stepien, deputy campaign manager Justin Clark, campaign adviser Jason Miller, communications director Tim Murtaugh, and general counsel Matt Morgan.
Trump will return to the campaign trail in a week. He’ll hold a rally in Georgia on Dec. 5 for Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, incumbent Republicans facing runoffs elections on Jan. 5. Democrats would need to win both races to take control of the Senate.
We should expect that Trump will use his very last Nuremburg rally to make a last minute fundraising pitch to overturn the results of the election before the electoral college votes on December 14th. And almost everyone including himself will know it's bullshit when he does this, but it could still bring in millions of dollar to Trump's personal PAC.
Trump's new PAC is a leadership PAC, meaning he can use the money for his own personal expenses.
The cruel but amusing irony of this grift is that the people running it for Trump -- the lawyers and spokespeople beclowning themselves in public to keep it going -- probably won't see a dime from it.
Maybe Trump has promised to pay them at a later date to be determined. Maybe he'll give them a complimentary membership to the Mar-a-Lago. Maybe they'll be enrolled in the Jelly of the Month Club. I don't know, but I'm pretty sure Trump is going to keep the vast majority of the money he's raising for himself. Maybe Ivanka will receive a check.
Trump is going to make overtures about running again in 2024 and he may even do that at his next rally, but that won't be serious, either. It will be another grift.
