We've been covering Republican lies and Rove-style upside-down Orwellian campaign tactics since the beginning of the blog. Everything from deception to Southern Strategy race-baiting to wild conspiracy theories to Romney's latest Ohio early voting attack against the president.
But this campaign ad for Ohio's 6th district House seat reaches a new level of weird. In the spot, Bill Johnson, a Republican, stands in a farm field and talks about his opponent "Congressman Charlie Wilson" (granted, this is true) and how "politicians in Washington" are only committed to protecting their own jobs and power.
Why is this weird?
Bill Johnson is the incumbent! In other words, he's clearly pretending to be the challenger, but instead he's actually the "politician in Washington" who's protecting his own job and power.
This is the modern Republican Party. Shameless deception.
