In other news, following votes by the Virginia state House and Senate, the state is poised to finally expand Medicaid under Obamacare which will cover an estimated 400,000 additional people.
This is only possible because Democrats turned out to vote.
Meanwhile, Democracy Forward and Vote Vets are challenging Trump's appointment of Peter O’Rourke as the acting secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs because doing so is illegal under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.
“The statutory text is very clear. The law says that an acting replacement can only be appointed if the official died, resigned or is unable to serve,” Lewis said. “Since Shulkin was fired, the administration’s decision to select O’Rourke is another sign of how the administration is willing to break the law to get their favored people in power at the VA.”
Finally, the Trump regime plans to impose new limits on visas for Chinese graduate students who study technology. They apparently believe all Chinese students are secret spies. Or something.
The State Department did not provide specifics. But a U.S. official said that according to instructions sent to U.S. embassies and consulates, Chinese graduate students will be limited to one-year visas if they are studying in fields like robotics, aviation and high-tech manufacturing. China identified those areas as priorities in its “Made in China” 2025 manufacturing plan.
Kicking out Chinese students is not going to reduce our trade deficit if that's what they're thinking. That's a very stupid idea so it probably is what they're thinking. It's a very 1939 idea; as if the Chinese need undercover student spies to develop their own brands and products.
