It's not really a pandemic -- an infestation, actually. The unseasonably warm weather here in eastern PA has brought out the stink bug plague. Back in 1998, someone brought home a tree or shrub from east Asia with this bugs attached and now they're everywhere.
No purpose in the ecosystem here -- no natural predators -- and they emit an horrific odor if you try to kill them. And I do try to kill them. Normally, I'm a pretty humane man when it comes to even the most harmless insects, but since these bugs are introduced and tenacious, I grab them with a wad of toilet paper and flush every last one. Stinky little bastards.
