Reid is on TV now. The public option with an opt-out clause will be in the final Senate bill. This is very, very good news -- especially considering where we were a month or two ago.
Reid said there will not be a CBO scoring of the trigger. So the trigger is basically dead.
Reid: "We'll have to move forward on this [without Olympia Snowe]."
There will also be a co-op plan in the final Senate bill, but in addition to the public option. Strange. But okay.
Reid said something about 2014 regarding the opt-out, but he was unclear what that means. Will states have until 2014 to opt-out? Or will they not be able to opt-out until 2014?
UPDATE: Credit where credit is due. Maybe we should call Senator Reid and thank him.
