What does the Right Wing really crave? According to the third-most popular radio host in the country, they have a craving for nationalism, and the only cure is a repeat of the mid 20th century.
The conservative radio host Michael Savage Sunday called for a third, "nationalist" American political party to challenge the Republican Party on the right of the political spectrum.
“We need a nationalist party in the United States of America,” said Savage on Aaron Klein's WABC radio show."You have the rudiments of a new party in this country called a Tea Party. They need to restructure their party. They need a charismatic leader, which they don’t have," he said. [...]
Savage is the third-most widely heard radio talker in the country, and a leading voice among conservatives seeking an alternative to the Beltway Republican Party.
I'm old enough to remember when they referred to President Obama as a "charismatic leader" in an accusatory manner, but they never accused him of being a nationalist. Instead they referred to him as a "socialist" which served as a sort of dog-whistle for "national socialist."
The former sounds good to an uninformed, prejudiced citizen, while the latter sounds more sinister. You know, because Europe is socialist and bad things happen there. Or something.
Of course we know that was all projection anyway, as is the right wing meme that says the National Socialist Party was "left wing."
