Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump phoned into Fox & Friends this morning where he claimed credit for another attack before any other individuals or terrorist groups could.
“I should be a newscaster because I called it before the news,” Trump said in a phone interview on “Fox and Friends. “What I said was exactly correct and everybody says while he was right, he called it too soon. Okay. Give me a break.”
Trump, as you know, is a big fan of terror. The GOP nominee also claimed credit for the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando before we even knew who the gunman was.
Early reports indicate the failed Chelsea bomber was far from the mastermind Trump would probably like you to think. The suspect, Ahmad Rahami, reportedly left his fingerprints on an unexploded bomb and the phone attached to the bomb was registered to his family and was logged into his social media accounts! Rahami was arrested in New Jersey while I was writing this post.
Nearly 30 people were injured by the homemade bomb that exploded in a Chelsea, NY dumpster, but no one was killed. A second bomb failed to explode in Elizabeth, NJ and appears to have been foiled by a couple thieves looking for valuable luggage. A third bomb (also in Elizabeth) also failed to explode and was reportedly disrupted by homeless men. The bomb that was disturbed by luggage thieves led authorities directly to Rahami.
What does it say that Trump's response to any terrorist attack is indistinguishable from the response of actual terrorist organizations? Trump is thrilled by attacks and hopes to capitalize on them for political gain.
Trump's boast that he should "be a newscaster" may be the key takeaway here. Trump TV is coming in 2017.
