How is Donald Trump's trip through Asia going?
I think we all expected Trump would say something incredibly stupid and/or destabilizing during his trip, but he hit the ground running in Japan where he shared his infamous wisdom and wit with the local... samurai warriors?
U.S. President Donald Trump has said Japan should have shot down the North Korean missiles that flew over the country before landing in the Pacific Ocean earlier this year, diplomatic sources have said, despite the difficulties and potential ramifications of doing so. [...]
The U.S. president said he could not understand why a country of samurai warriors did not shoot down the missiles, the sources said.
Trump also said the Japanese should manufacture their cars inside the United States which, you know, they already do.
"Try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over. Is that possible to ask? That's not rude. Is that rude? I don't think so," Trump told executives from local automakers during a trip to Japan.
I have personally lived within fairly close proximity to multiple Japanese auto manufacturing plants my entire life. As far back as the 1980s and 90s, I've had Japanese neighbors who were sent overseas to work at a local factory that produces windshields for their cars.
