Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has made many claims and told a lot of lies, but his lies don't typically violate the laws of physics like this one does.
Trump spoke in Colorado and New Mexico yesterday where he twice claimed Hillary Clinton will "triple the size of our country in one week."
“But she wants open borders,” Trump said at a campaign stop in Greeley, Colorado. “You saw that during the debate. WikiLeaks got her again. She never talked about open borders. She wants open borders. We could have 600 million people pour into our country. Think of it. Once you have open borders like that, you don’t have a country anymore.”
At his third and final stop in Albuquerque, Trump repeated the claim, although he increased the number by 50 million.
You could annex the entire population of Latin America and not hit 650 million. You could annex the entire region and admit every refugee in the entire world and still not hit 650 million. You certainly couldn't do it in one week even if the numbers were there.
Given that he said this twice at two different rallies, it clearly wasn't a gaffe or slip of the tongue. This is now a talking point.
I don't exactly hold Trump's supporters in high esteem, but even they must have done a double take after he said this.
