Trump's recent meeting with North Korea leader Kim Jong-un ended without the two of them even signing a symbolic piece of paper, but Trump is interested in another meeting according to National Security Adviser John Bolton.
Bolton appeared on ABC yesterday morning where he said Trump still believes in their special relationship.
“The president’s confident in his personal relationship with Kim Jong Un. He’s invested a lot of time in trying to develop that relationship,” Bolton told ABC’s “This Week.”
“He said he’s open to a third summit, none has been scheduled, and some time may have to go by. But he’s prepared to engage again because he does think that the prospects for North Korea, which he’s been trying to persuade Kim Jong Un to accept if they denuclearized, are really quite spectacular,” Bolton said.
You'd like to think the results of their latest meeting would convince Trump to stop legitimizing Kim Jong-un, but they are "in love" after all. We're all aware that loves make you do insane things.
Assuming Kim Jong-un will write Trump another Dear John letter within the next few months, I believe we can expect to see their next meeting in late summer or early autumn. I also believe their next meeting will not result in a substantive agreement, but it's not as if anyone is stepping out on a long limb to predict that.
