Vaccines for the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, are already in development across the world, but their development may take longer than they otherwise should because Trump has essentially blacklisted the World Health Organization.
Trump recently ordered his regime to withdraw funding from the organization, which was bad enough, but the regime also apparently won't participate in any of the organization's initiatives including their most important one: the initiative to speed development of a vaccine.
(Reuters) - The United States will not take part in the launching of a global initiative on Friday to speed the development, production and distribution of drugs and vaccines against COVID-19, a spokesman for the U.S. mission in Geneva told Reuters.
"There will be no U.S. official participation", he said in an email reply to a query. "We look forward to learning more about this initiative in support of international cooperation to develop a vaccine for COVID-19 as soon as possible." [...]
French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will help launch the global initiative on Friday, the U.N. agency said ahead of the 1300 GMT event.
I firmly believe that if we don't replace Trump with Joe Biden in November, even the delivery of a vaccine will be bungled if not intentionally mishandled by the Trump regime.
Virtually everything Trump touches turns to shit in any case, but there's also the high possibility that Trump would use access and distribution of the vaccine for political favors and leverage. It is not difficult at all to imagine that Trump may, for example, prioritize distribution of vaccine doses to areas of the country that support him the most. Trump has already used access to personal protective equipment (PPP) in this manner.
There is no force short of gravity itself that is greater than Trump's narcissism.
