Today the president signed the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act of 2009, making it easier for federal cash to make its way to veterans who need healthcare.
Basically, it's a bill that strengthens a single-payer government-run healthcare system.
For the record, it passed the Senate with unanimous consent, and there was only one 'no' vote in the House. In other words, everyone except Rep. Stephen Buyer (R-IN) voted in favor of a government-run healthcare system. And rightly so.
Yet the public option is all kinds of controversial. Didn't Senator Landrieu just say that she doesn't support government-run healthcare? I mean, every Republican and every Blue Dog and every conservadem voted for strengthening a single-payer healthcare system that not only includes government-run insurance, but also government-run hospitals and physicians.
Amazing.
