John McCain

Unity

Clinton supporters agree: Governor Palin's selection is a slap in the face to all women. Outspoken Clinton supporter/blogger/talker Taylor Marsh:

My husband and I were talking about John McCain's veep pick, when I said I really believed Sarah "Quaylin" Palin was an insult to all qualified women, especially Kay Bailey Hutchison. When all of a sudden the woman in front of us whirled around and went off.

"I'm so glad you said that! What does he think, that women are stupid?" she said angrily. She continued, without me saying a word. "I'm a big supporter of Hillary Clinton, so after ..." then her voice trailed off.

I asked her if she would mind telling me if she was a Democratic or a Republican. She said she was a Democrat but, "I was keeping an open mind after... you know. But after this? No way am I voting for John McCain! If this is his idea of judgment, forget it!"

Like I wrote the other day, there's a huge difference between earning history and having it handed to you with the most flippant, cynical, superficial intentions. And that doesn't even cover the vast ideological and experience differences between Palin and Clinton.

By the way, talk about uniting the party. Three or four months ago, Taylor Marsh and I were on polar opposite sides of the primary. And now we're quoting each other. Thanks, McBush for helping to unify the party.
