During yesterday's Batshit Conference held by Rep. Steve King, Rep. Michele Bachmann, and Rep. Louie Gohermet who introduced the PROMISES Act, which would require payment to military members and veterans to go out even if the debt limit isn't raised, Bachmann had this to say:
"President Obama is holding the full, faith and credit of the United States hostage so he can continue his spending spree!"
Bachmann is a little late to the game of pretending it's President Obama who is holding the economy hostage, not the Republicans, so to understand my bewilderment you have to go back to last week where Bachmann said this:
"As a descendant of generations of Iowans, I was born and raised in Waterloo," Bachmann says. "As a mom of five, a foster parent, and a former tax lawyer, and now a small-business job creator, I know that we can't keep spending money that we don't have. That's why I fought against the wasteful bailout, against the stimulus.
"I. will. not. vote. to increase the debt ceiling. I'm Michele Bachmann, and I approve this message."
I will not vote to increase the debt ceiling, but it's the president who is holding us all hostage. Not me. I'm Michele Bachmann, and I approve this very serious message.
