According to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, the reason he has failed to create the number of jobs promised during his 2010 campaign is the impending recall which has lead to "political uncertainty," and he's now promising that the jobs will arrive as soon as the recall is over.
He may be right if the recall results in his replacement.
Walker promised to add 250,000 jobs during his 2010 campaign, and he reiterated that promise to Republican Party faithful at its annual convention [during] the weekend. Through March, the most recent month available, the state has added just 5,900 jobs under Walker. [...]
Walker blamed the state's employment woes on the recalls, saying employers are hesitant to add jobs during times of political uncertainty but that there would be a "dramatic turnaround" after June 5.
"There is a tremendous enthusiasm built up for additional jobs," he said. "I think you're going to see a tremendous takeoff."
Wisconsin had the worst year-over-year change in the job market in the entire country between 2011 and 2012. Someone has to be at the bottom, but it certainly shouldn't be the former beacon of solidarity.
At the current pace of growth, Walker is still roughly 40 to 50 years away from creating those 250,000 jobs.
