Watching MSNBC last night, you'd think President Obama publicly flogged Judge Sotomayor. Of course he did nothing of the sort, but leave it to NBC News to constantly stoke drama -- especially when it comes to powerful women. Here are the president's remarks to Brian Williams:
I’m sure she would have restated it. But if you look in the entire sweep of the essay that she wrote, what’s clear is that she was simply saying that her life experiences will give her information about the struggles and hardships that people are going through — that will make her a good judge.
She might've restated it. Fair enough. But that doesn't preclude the fact that the president stood by the content of what she said. 100 percent.
Hey guess what? I know what it's like to be a half-Italian man from Virginia better than does an Anglo woman from Alabama. President Obama understands what it's like to be a bi-racial man from a single mother better than a white man from a two-parent household. And vice versa. In situations and decisions that reflect these circumstances, there's a natural insight.
Then again that's all rational and reasonable. Tancredo, Limbaugh and the others are scared because the white, racist man's day (thousands of years) on top is rapidly ending. That and their bitterness over their tiny penises.
