After warning for weeks that the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, could spread into a pandemic if governments don't take adequate steps to stop it, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the virus is now a global pandemic.
The COVID-19 viral disease that has swept into at least 114 countries and killed more than 4,000 people is now officially a pandemic, the World Health Organization announced Wednesday.
"This is the first pandemic caused by coronavirus," said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
"In the past two weeks, the number of cases of COVID-19 outside China has increased 13-fold, and the number of affected countries has tripled," Tedros said.
In closely related news, Reuters first reported this morning that the Trump regime has told officials that their coronavirus discussions are now classified.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House has ordered federal health officials to treat top-level coronavirus meetings as classified, an unusual step that has restricted information and hampered the U.S. government’s response to the contagion, according to four Trump administration officials.
The officials said that dozens of classified discussions about such topics as the scope of infections, quarantines and travel restrictions have been held since mid-January in a high-security meeting room at the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), a key player in the fight against the coronavirus.
Staffers without security clearances, including government experts, were excluded from the interagency meetings, which included video conference calls, the sources said.
So, it can now be understood that Trump has not simply contradicted actual health officials by telling the people there's nothing to see here. The White House has actually tried to stop officials and experts from informing the public by threatening them in legal terms. The Trump regime's official cover-up is far bigger in scope than we previously knew.
This is worse than Trump's scheme to extort the Ukrainian government for political favors and if Congress didn't have so many other things to consider right now I would say they should impeach Trump again.
