These are awful, awful people.
During a trip to Epcot at Disneyworld, Pennsylvania delegate Mark Harris and his wife were shocked and offended to find a Mexican employee working at the amusement park’s American pavilion, which showcases the different cultures in the United States. According to the couple’s blog, Harris complained to staff that he was “highly offended” that a “person from Mexico” was working in the American pavilion when other nations’ pavilions were staffed by people from each respective country.
And how does GOP delegate Mark Harris know the Hispanic employee at the American pavilion isn't an American? Does he just assume that based on their skin color? Is the implication that everyone working at the American pavilion should be white? What if some of the white employees were actually born in Canada or Europe?
What makes Mark Harris think the staff at other pavilions were actually from their respective country? Was everyone at the Norwegian pavilion white? Does that mean they belong?
Call me crazy or old-fashioned, but when I visit Epcot Center the first thing on my mind is how I'm going to manage to enjoy all the amazing food and culture in one single day, not the skin color of the employees working at each pavilion. I don't believe their skin color would even factor into my thoughts at all.
Did GOP delegate Mark Harris stop to ask himself what kind of wages and benefits the pavilion employees earn? I doubt it. His first priority was to be offended and complain about ethnicity.
