I caught this story on Countdown tonight and thought I'd recap. Follow along. This is good.
Palin's first "major policy address" this morning involved increasing funding for special needs children. In other words, taking tax revenue from Americans who can afford it and giving the revenue to people who need it. There's a phrase for that sort of thing. Hmmm. "Spreading the wealth," I think it's called. Anyway, here's part of her speech:
For many parents of children with disabilities, the most valuable thing of all is information. Early identification of a cognitive or other disorder, especially autism, can make a life-changing difference.
Information. Remember that. Then, she decided to rip into evil earmarks.
...sometimes these dollars go to projects that have little or nothing to do with the public good. Things like fruit fly research in Paris, France. I kid you not.
Hoo-hoo! She kids us not! What good could fruit fly research -- French fruit flies no less -- possibly ever do? Crazy! Oh wait. A recent University of North Carolina study of certain proteins found in fruit flies...
...may lead to advances in understanding autism spectrum disorders, as recently, human neurexins have been identified as a genetic risk factor for autism.
Information!
But wow -- who cares that she's shamelessly uninformed in major policy addresses. She's totally hot! Seriously, though, maybe the campaign should've spent more cash on tutors, and not so much on airbrushed lip liner or whatever, eh?
