Remember Congressman Joe Wilson?
Wilson embarrassed himself and Congress in 2009 when he yelled "you lie" at President Obama during the State of the Union address. President Obama asserted that undocumented immigrants would not be able to take advantage of what would eventually be known as the Affordable Care Act or "Obamacare." Wilson, like many other Republicans, believed (some still do in 2017) Obama would provide free healthcare to immigrants.
Free Market Jesus would never approve of that, would he?
Wilson received a taste of his own medicine yesterday when his constituents chanted "you lie" during a town hall meeting.
According to the local Post and Courier, Wilson was called a liar because he touted his support for enforcement of domestic violence laws (which you can hear in the beginning of the video), but he voted against the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) in 2013.
Why did he vote against it?
As you may recall, most Republicans voted against it because it extended existing protections to immigrants and Native American women.
